Generator rental: Short answer: to size a rental generator in Saudi Arabia, add up the running load of everything it will power, allow for motor starting current, and add a margin of about 20–25% for heat and growth. Summer temperatures above 45 °C reduce generator output, so a set that is “just enough” in winter can overheat in July.

Step 1: list the load

Write down each item the generator will run: cabins and AC units, lighting, welding machines, pumps, compressors, tools. Use the rated kW from each nameplate. AC units and motors draw several times their running current when they start, so note them separately.

Step 2: convert to kVA

Generators are rated in kVA. For most site loads, kVA ≈ kW ÷ 0.8. A 160 kW load therefore needs at least 200 kVA before any margin.

Step 3: add a margin for Saudi heat

Output falls as air temperature rises. Add 20–25% to the calculated kVA for summer work in the Eastern Province, Riyadh or the southern fields, and more if the generator sits in direct sun.
