What decides the right size

Running load

Add up the power of everything that runs together, then allow for the power factor to convert kW to kVA.

Largest motor

Starting a large motor draws a surge several times its running current. The generator must ride through it, or you can use a soft starter.

Prime or standby

A prime unit runs for long hours as the main supply. A standby unit covers outages. Tell us which you need.

Heat and fuel

High ambient temperature reduces output, so we allow for it. Fuel is normally supplied by the hirer, so plan tank size and refuelling.

Tell us: Running load in kW, largest motor, duration and fuel arrangements.

Safe temporary power

Have a qualified electrician connect the set, with earthing and residual-current protection as your site requires.
Never run a generator in an enclosed space. Exhaust contains carbon monoxide.
Contain fuel spills and refuel only with the engine stopped and cool.
Keep light towers clear of power lines and set the outriggers or stabilisers on firm ground before raising the mast.
